The Pass It Forward Program is an organization-wide initiative set in place by the Boston Breakers in January 2009 with the sole mission of “working to proactively extend their reach in the community by partnering with local organizations who are creating positive change for people throughout Boston (and beyond).”
The program will focus on three areas of philanthropic and community service: soccer, youth-education and female health/fitness. In order to fulfill that mission, the team has partnered with two local organizations, America SCORES New England and GoGirlGo! Boston.
Read on below to learn more about the organizations and their individual missions. For additional information on the Pass It Forward program and the Breakers' work in their community, please contact The Breakers office at info@bostonbreakers.com
GoGirlGo! Boston
The Women’s Sports Foundation’s GoGirlGo! program educates and encourages girls to play sports and games as a means to safeguard their health, boost their confidence, build character and teamwork. The Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) was founded by Billie Jean King in 1974 to advance the lives of girls and women through sports and physical activity. In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the WSF launched GoGirlGo! Atlanta in 2004. Each year since its launch, the WSF has opened a GoGirlGo! community office, opening Boston in 2007. GoGirlGo! Boston provides financial and technical assistance to community organizations that facilitate sports/physical fitness programs for girls. To date, GoGirlGo! has provided $200,000 in grant funding to Boston organizations, providing them with the means to help get girls moving and playing.
